Ric Ocasek Net Worth $25 Million
Ric Ocasek spent his childhood in his hometown, Baltimore, but at the age of 16 he moved with his family to Cleveland Ohio. He attended Maple Heights High School, and upon matriculation he briefly studied at Bowling Green State University, and then Antioch College before dropping out to concentrate on his musical career.
He soon met Benjamin Orr, and they began to perform together in some local bands. Later, in the early 1970s, they moved to Boston and formed a folk rock band named Milkwood, and signed a recording contract with Paramount label. The band’s debut album entitled “How’s The Weather” was released in 1973, and was a complete failure, so the band broke up.
Afterwards, Ric formed another band called Richard and the Rabbits, however, it did not last long and Ric decided to team up with David Robinson, and they formed the group named The Cars in 1976. The group accomplished major success, as they had a number of hit songs, but they disbanded in 1988. Later, they regrouped to record their debut album “Move Like This” in 2011, increasing the overall size of Ric’s net worth.
Nevertheless, Ric focused on his career as a solo artist, and released his debut solo album entitled “Beatitude” in 1982. His next album “This Side Of Paradise” came out in 1986, and the single “Emotion In Motion” became a No. 15 hit single. Later, in 1991, Ric released “Fireball Zone”, which also failed. Since then, he has released four studio albums, including “Quick Change World” (1993), “Getchertikitz” (1996), “Troublizing” (1997), and “Nexterday” (2005), increasing further his net worth.
Additionally to his career as a musician, Ric began to work as a record producer, and becoming proficient in this job. He produced for some of the most popular bands, such as No Doubt, Bad Religion, D Generation, The Pink Spiders, The Cribs, etc. All of these collaborations added a considerable amount to his net worth.
Other than that, Ric tried himself as an author; he published the book of poetry “Negative Theatre” in 1993, and later in 2012 came out with his book entitled “Lyrics And Prose”, which represents a collection of lyrics from his solo studio albums. His net worth was certainly rising.
If to talk about his personal life, Ric Ocasek has been married to model Paulina Porizkova since 1989. Previously, he was married twice – the name of his first wife is unknown, but his second wife was Suzanne Otcasek(1973=85)). From these three marriages, he has six sons – one of them is Christopher Otcasek, a singer. In his spare time, Ric enjoys drawing, and making photo collages, and he released the exhibit “Teahead Scraps” in Columbus, Ohio, in 2009.
